Questions.

Why do free users see ads?

Honest answer: we want a real business that doesn't depend on every user upgrading. Ads on the free tier are the only way to keep the free tier genuinely generous (180 expenses/month, all split types, multi-currency). Ads are small, in-feed, and never interrupt you. One $2 upgrade and they're gone forever.

Is my financial data safe?

We never touch your bank balance or credentials. PayPal uses OAuth (authorized in their app), Venmo and Zelle use deep-links (we never see the payment itself). All data encrypted at rest and in transit. Export or delete everything at any time.

What happens when I hit 180 expenses?

Existing expenses still work — view, settle, comment, everything. Adding new ones prompts an upgrade. No data is ever locked or deleted. Next month resets.

Can I import expenses from somewhere else?

Yes. One-click CSV import preserves groups, friends, expenses, and balances. Takes about thirty seconds.

Mobile apps?

We ship as a PWA first — install directly from your browser, works offline, sends push notifications. Native iOS and Android follow in Q3 2026.

Who's behind Fairtabs?

An independent team obsessed with making money stuff feel less awful. No VC, no data selling, no dark patterns. Just a tool we wish existed.
